Driving Here

From Windermere/Grasmere/Ambleside: Leave Ambleside on the A593 to Skelwith Bridge. Past the Skelwith Bridge Hotel and Chesters, cross over the Brathay Bridge and immediately take the left fork onto the minor road towards Skelwith Fold. The Centre is on the right hand side after approx 150m.

From Coniston: take the A593 towards Ambleside. Turn sharp right on the bend just before the Brathay Bridge at Skelwith Bridge into the minor road towards Skelwith Fold. The Centre is on the right hand side after approx 150m.

From Hawkshead/Outgate : Follow the B5286 towards Ambleside into Outgate. Turn in to the minor road opposite the Outgate Inn and follow that road for approx 1 mile to the Barngates crossroads (Drunken Duck Inn). Straight across the crossroads and then straight on through Skelwith Fold village after another mile. Turn right at the T junction towards Skelwith Bridge and the Centre is then on the left hand side after another approx 400m.

Public Transport

The 516 bus route (Dungeon Ghyll - Elterwater - Ambleside - Windermere - Kendal) runs closest to the Community Centre with a stop at Skelwith Bridge approx 250m away.

The 505 bus route (Kendal - Windermere - Ambleside - Coniston) also passes within a mile of the Centre. The closest point is probably the stop at Skelwith Fold Caravan Park entrance and then either through the park, or take a detour on the public footpath to the south at Kirkley Bank to reach Skelwith Fold Village, then walk through the village, past the vantage point down to the Community Centre.

Cycling and Walking

There are numerous cycling and walking routes in the vicinity of the Community Centre. We are approx 200m off The Cumbria Way which passes us through Skelwith Bridge and is very popular with walkers and off-road cyclists. There is also a mostly off road and quiet lanes cycling route which starts alongside the A593 from Ambleside. Leave the A593 and cross over the Brathay at the pedestrian and cyclist bridge after the main road bridge in Clappersgate. Entering Bog Lane by Brathay Church, turn right towards Skelwith Fold Village, and then right again in the village towards Skelwith Bridge. Right again at the T-junction and we are approx 400m on your left.
